WHO WE ARE

The journey for Mike and Cindy Maddy started in Arroyo Grande, California in 1994. After nine trips to Africa and multiple trips to the Middle East trip to share the Gospel and make disciples, they made the commitment to make one million disciples in their lifetime.  How does one do that? Follow the Jesus Plan: Make disciples that multiply and make other disciples.

Cindy’s grandma Peggy was the first to share the truth about abundant life and eternity with her.  Peggy accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in 1958 in Fresno, California at a Billy Graham tent rival event.  From that day, Peggy prayed for her family and friends to find their way to God as she did.

Because of Peggy’s many years of faithful prayers, Cindy encountered Jesus early one morning through a fisherman on the beach of Oceano who said to her, “Jesus wants you to know ‘He loves you very much’.”  From that day forward Cindy has been walking with her Father in Heaven.  Mike and Cindy met later in Arroyo Grande, California and got married on that same beach 1995.  

Anticipating the arrival of Mike and Cindy for one of their regular visits to play Canasta and eat pizza with her, Grandma Peggy heard a song on the television and wrote down some of the lyrics on a napkin to share with them. She left a note on the dinner tray next to her chair, but died that night before Mike and Cindy arrived for their visit. Grandma Peggy’s dying words to Mike and Cindy were “Be Bold, Be Strong, for the Lord thy God is with you” which were taken from verse nine of the first book of Joshua. The coroner explained that grandma had passed at about 3:00 AM.

Mike and Cindy have carried that message in their hearts for over 25 years and in 2018 decided to sell everything, give up the country club lifestyle, and move to Africa and start training centers for African Pastors. They started a non-profit organization to support the many projects God had assigned to them in Africa.  Bold Faith Journey is not any one person’s ministry but includes many who are on the same journey of living their faith boldly, inviting others to follow Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Mike and Cindy started working in Africa in 2000, supporting an orphanage in Kenya.  Later they went on a mission to save unborn babies from being aborted in Africa and in America.  

The vision of Bold Faith Journey became clear when Mike heard Dr. Bruce Wilkinson say to a group of Orange County Christian Businessmen to start investing ministry dollars into Africa because you will reap the most fruit for your money. He had recently started a ministry in South Africa called Teach Every Nation. Dr. Bruce Wilkinson has produced a three-year Bible School in a Box for the purpose of training new believers to lead the one million new churches started in Africa over the last 25 years. 

Bold Faith Journey is fulfilling the Great Commission of Jesus Christ to make disciples. The formula is to use the multiplication of ten: Make ten disciples who will make ten disciples and to the tenth degree we will see the fulfillment of the Great Commission. 

Many people support our efforts and continue to trust and have faith in the work that God is doing all over the world.  We are so grateful for all that God is doing through this ministry!  It has been more than we could have ever planned or imagined.
